This is your ticket to a lifetime of fun and adventure with Aquatic Explorers, a dive company that sets the standards in the Sydney diving community. You may now complete the theory portion of the course online, then review and cement your knowledge in the classroom. Open water learning options also include group or private instruction. This course offers tremendous flexibility and lets you work out individual needs with your instructor. We can also cater for shift workers and unusual schedules.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including familiarisation with your dive equipment, and diving techniques.

What Happens in the Course

• Day 1: Meet at the store at 8:30 am.  This will be a day for equipment reviews, buddy procedures and reviewing of your Open Water manual.
• Day 2: Meet at the store at 8:30am and you will practice what you have learnt in the safety of a pool environment.
• Day 3: Meeting at the store at 8:30am, you will get to participate in two local shore dives.
• Day 4: Meet at the store at 8:30am and again you will participate in two local shore dives.  You will need to complete a short quiz on either day 3 or 4 to ensure that you have understood the theory component.
  
  

What will Open Water certification allow me to do?
As a certified SSI Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of an instructor. If you have already tried an SSI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are SSI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.

Who can become a diver?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a Open Water Diver certification. During the course, your Instructor will ask you to demonstrate the ability to swim 200 metres. If you are between 12 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a SSI Junior Open Water Diver program available.

What will I need?
SSI Open Water Crew-Pak containing your log book & dive tables. (This is supplied with the course)

Due to health and hygiene considerations, you will need to have your own:

• Mask
• Snorkel
• Fins and Boots

We do not support the practice sharing any of these items.  All of our divers get preferred pricing on any items that they require for the course.
