SSI BOAT DIVER SPECIALTY COURSE

Through the SSI Boat Diver Specialty course, you can learn the techniques and procedures for diving from different types of boats. The more boats you're diving from, the more diving you're doing.

What do I need to start?

  • SSI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification
    (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 10 years old

What will I do?

As part of your SSI Boat Diver Specialty course, you'll learn about:

  • Boat diving planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards
  • Proper boat diving etiquette, including equipment storage and conduct Common boat terminology
  • Specific and local boat diving laws and ordinances
  • Overview of emergency and safety equipment needed on- private dive boats

How long will it take?

  • Recommended Course Hours: 12
  • Minimum Open Water Training: two dives over one day

SSI DEEP DIVER SPECIALTY COURSE

The Deep Diver Specialty course offers you the opportunity of a lifetime - going deep to see thing others can only dream about.

What do I need to start?

  • SSI Adventure Diver certification
    (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 15 years old

What will I do?

You'll learn deep dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards. You'll also put this knowledge to the test as you go on four open water dives that range from 18 - 40 metres / 60 - 130 feet.

How long will it take?

  • Recommended Course Hours: 24
  • Minimum Open Water Training: four dives over two days

TDI ENRICHED AIR NITROX

Maximize your time with the upgraded TDI Enriched Air Diver course. Enriched Air Diver saves you time by allowing you to:

  • Stay underwater longer
  • Get back into the water sooner
  • Get your certification while simultaneously completing dives for other SSI courses
  • Plus, by diving with Enriched Air you may feel less tired on your vacation.

How much more time can I be underwater?

For example, if you dive to15 metres/50 feet on air, your no decompression limit is 80 minutes. But, diving on EANx36 gets you 220 minutes of no decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes! It’s perfect for underwater photographers, wreck divers and anyone who wants to stay down longer.

What do I need to start?

  • All you need is your open water diver certification. (You must be 15 years of age or older).

What will I do?

  • You will learn preparation and diving procedures involved with enriched air diving.

How soon can I be diving on enriched air?

  • Just a mini workshop and a couple dives and you’ll be on your way.
  • Recommended Course Hours: 12
  • Minimum Open Water Training: two dives over one day

What will I need?

You'll need your TDI Enriched Air Crew-Pak, which includes an Enriched Air 32 percent Table, Enriched Air 36 percent Table and Equivalent Air Depth/Oxygen Exposure Table.

SSI NIGHT DIVER SPECIALTY COURSE

When you go night diving you'll see a whole new world. Even your local dive site takes on a new personality at night, as many underwater creatures and plant life (different from those you see during the day) are active at night.

What do I need to start?

  • SSI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification
    (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 12 years old

What will I do?

You'll learn night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also learn how to control your buoyancy, navigate and communicate at night. Since many of the plants and animals you'll see are different, you'll also get an introduction to nocturnal aquatic life.

How long will it take?

  • Recommended Course Hours: 12
  • Minimum Open Water Training: three dives over one day

Night-Pak, which includes manual, video and log insert

SSI SEARCH AND RECOVERY SPECIALTY COURSE

Have you ever dropped something in the water? Are you looking for lost treasure? The SSI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface.

What do I need to start?

  • SSI Advanced Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification
    (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • OR

  • SSI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver AND SSI Underwater Navigation certifications.. (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 12 years old

What will I do?

You'll learn search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also cover limited visibility, search patterns and safe object recovery using lift devices.

How long will it take?

  • Recommended Course Hours: 24 hours
  • Minimum Open Water Training: four dives over two days

SSI UNDERWATER NATURALIST SPECIALTY COURSE

If you're interested in aquatic life then the SSI Underwater Naturalist Specialty course is for you. This course is an introduction to the underwater aquatic environment and will help develop safe and responsible aquatic life interaction techniques.

What do I need to start?

  • SSI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification
    (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 10 years old

What will I do?

During your SSI Underwater Naturalist Specialty course, you'll learn underwater naturalist dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also get an overview of the major aquatic life groupings, interactions and factual information that dispels negative myths. You'll put this information into practice during your two open water dives.

  • Recommended Course Hours: 12
  • Minimum Open Water Training: two open water dives over one day

SSI WRECK DIVER SPECIALTY COURSE

The lure of exploring sunken vessels, airplanes and automobiles is something most divers can't resist. The SSI Wreck Diver Specialty course introduces you to wreck diving and helps you develop the skills and knowledge necessary for safe and fun wreck diving.

What do I need to start?

  • SSI Adventure Diver certification
    (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 15 years old

What will I do?

Information contained in your wreck diver program includes:

  • The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of wreck diving
  • The preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines and reels
  • Limited-visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures

  • Recommended Course Hours: 24
