Solo Diver Course


One of SDI’s most popular courses, the solo diver program teaches experienced recreational divers how to safely dive independently of a dive buddy or strengthen your buddy team skills.

This course trains divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedure to be self sufficient divers including the skills and techniques to undertake solo diving for no decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 msw.


Student Pre-Requisites
Minimum age of 21 years, minimum of 100 logged dives and certification as an SDI Advanced diver or equivalent (this program may be combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox, Deco Procedures, Extended Range or Trimix Diver courses).


Qualifications of Graduates
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in No Decompresion solo diving activities up to 40 msw.


Required Course Minimums
Classroom / Briefing Hours - 4
Openwater Dives - 2, including a non-stop surface swim of 200 meters in full scuba gear, navigation with a compass, deployment of a surface marker and use of a surface audible signalling device.

Redundant Air Source, SMB & Reel, Compass, Audible Signal.

Note: All SDI Programs require the use of a Dive Computer.


Graduation Requirements
Complete the SDI Solo Diver Knowledge Quests, Demonstrate the techniques to execute a Solo Dive safely and competantly.
