The rescue certification course is designed to develop the knowledge and necessary skills for an individual to effectively perform diver rescues and assists, and administer necessary first aid.
Student Pre-Requisites
Minimum age of 18, 15 with parental consent, minimum of 40 logged dives OR certification as a SDI Advanced Diver or equivalent, hold current First Aid and CPR Certification (these programs may be combined with the Rescue Course)
Qualifications of Graduates
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are able to conduct rescues to distressed divers and are qualified to enroll in the SDI Master Diver and SDI Divemaster Programs.
Required Course Minimums
Classroom / Briefing Hourse - 12 (8 in Open Water conditions)
Openwater Dives - 8 hours in Open Water conditions including assisting distressed divers, locating & surfacing and unconscious diver, 50 mt in-water rescue breathing surface swim and removal or the diver from the water.
Required Subject Areas
Prevention & Causes of Diving Accidents, Diving Lifesaving, Hyperbaric Injuries and Management, Accident Management.
Equipment Required
Basic Open Water Scuba Diver equipment and Cutting device. A pocket mask where necessary.
Note: All SDI Programs require the use of a dive computer.
Graduation Requirements
Complete the SDI Rescue Diver Knowledge Quests, Demonstrate the techniques to execute Dive Emergency Planning and Management safely and competently.
